Hello! I'm Nanette
I'm a Maine girl whose passion for photographing people began almost 20 years ago when I was a guest at a wedding. The wedding photographer's camera went on the blink, and I was asked to jump in to finish photographing the bride and groom's special day! I had a blast that day, but have found that portraiture is really my passion versus wedding photography.
I am all about the story—your story! Sure, I have one too, and it's actually a pretty good one . . . romantic, exciting, a little scary, and often spontaneous! I enjoy telling stories, hearing stories, and revealing stories through pictures. I want to tell YOUR story. Whether it's the story of how you and your honey met, or how your family vacations every year on the coast of Maine; how, maybe through adversity, you have become the strong woman, man, teenager that you are; or why you are passionate about your business and life. There is a story, it's your story, and I'll bet its a good one too!
I've been storytelling through writing and photographing for over 20 years. I photograph many of the same families year after year, watching their children grow to amazing young adults. I've photographed authors for their book covers, a long-distance cyclist on a 12-day journey from coast-to-coast, and seniors in the midst of transition between high school and the rest of their lives. Photographing creatives in their spaces, doing what they love, is a passion of mine. These images are often used for marketing, social media, and their website. And I get the occasional person asking for a headshot for a dating site . . . those are always great stories! If you are a human, I want to photograph you!
A little over four years ago, I created “Circle of Women:" an informal gathering of artists, creatives, and entrepreneurial women sharing ideas and supporting each other's growth and endeavors. We meet monthly and love to have new women join us. It's networking, trusting, and supporting each other in the most basic, genuine and organic of ways—face to face.
When I wake up in the morning, I'm excited to find who I will meet today and what life story they will tell me. I have worked with clients in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts, and am willing to travel further if the project seems interesting and the story sounds good!
